Analysis of Grammatical and Morphological Rules in the Quran and Their Application in Understanding Quranic Texts

Abstract

The Arabic language plays a fundamental role in understanding the Quran, as it is the language chosen by Allah for His divine revelation. The grammatical and morphological rules of Arabic are crucial in preserving the Quran’s authenticity and ensuring accurate interpretation of its messages. This study aims to analyze the syntactic and morphological structures found in the Quran and explore their application in comprehending Quranic texts. Employing a library research method, this study examines primary sources such as the Quran and linguistic exegeses, including Al-Burhan fi Ulum al-Quran by Al-Zarkashi and I'rab al-Quran by Al-Nahhas. Additionally, classical works on Arabic grammar and morphology, such as Sharh Qatr al-Nada wa Ball al-Sada by Ibn Hisham, provide the theoretical framework for analysis. The findings indicate that grammatical and morphological variations in the Quran significantly influence meaning and interpretation. For instance, changes in i'rab (inflection) and ṣarf (morphological transformations) can alter the syntactic relationships within verses, leading to nuanced meanings. Furthermore, understanding these linguistic elements enhances the exegesis of the Quran, preventing misinterpretation and preserving its linguistic integrity. This study underscores the necessity of mastering Arabic grammar and morphology for scholars, students, and researchers engaged in Quranic studies. Future research should focus on applying modern linguistic approaches to deepen the analysis of Quranic syntax and morphology.
