The Impact of Implementing Ice-Breaking Communication and Interaction Strategies on Vocabulary Acquisition in Arabic Language Education

Abstract

Ice Breaking is one of the fun learning strategies, the application of ice breaking is given to children around the KKN location to help children improve their mastery of Arabic mufrodat. In this study, a quantitative research type was used with a Pre-Experimental Design approach with One-Group Pretest-Posttest. Data was collected using observation and test techniques. Data analysis used descriptive statistical data analysis and used the N-Gain Score and was strengthened by the non-parametric Wilcoxon test to find the effect of increasing mastery of mufrodat before and after the implementation of ice breaking. The results of the study proved that the average score of the 15 participants in the pretest was 45 while the average in the posttest was 70 with an average percentage increase of 25%, and the N-Gain Score showed an average result of 0.5178, which means the acquisition of an N value -Gain Score enters the medium category. And the results of the Wilcoxon hypothesis test show the results of Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) is worth 0.003. Because the value of 0.003 is less than <0.05, it can be concluded that "Ha is accepted". This means that there is an increase in mufrodat mastery for pretest and posttest, so it can be concluded that "there is an effect of the use of ice breaking on mufrodat mastery in learning Arabic in the Thematic KKN program in the Sukamulya Complex, Kel. Tangkiling Kec. Bukit Batu City of Palangka Raya”.
